1. Who we are
FRIENDS Kenya ("FRIENDS", "we", "us") operates a friendship app for adults in Kenya. These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and FRIENDS Kenya. By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old to use FRIENDS. We may ask you to confirm your age and may close accounts that do not meet this requirement.
2. Your account
Keep your login details private and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to your account.
Provide accurate information and use your own photos. One person, one account.
You are responsible for activity on your account, except where it results from our failure to keep the service secure.
3. Using FRIENDS
FRIENDS is for personal, non-commercial use. You agree to use it lawfully and to follow our Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.
Do not harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate or discriminate against anyone.
Do not post illegal content, sexually explicit content, hate speech, or content that exploits or endangers anyone.
Do not scrape the service, reverse engineer it, bypass rate limits, or use it to send spam or advertising.
Do not upload malware or attempt to disrupt the service or other people’s accounts.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, text and other content you add to FRIENDS. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of running and improving the service, including showing your profile to people nearby.
You confirm that you have the right to share the content you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may remove content that breaks these terms or our Community Guidelines.
5. Meeting people
FRIENDS helps adults find each other, but we do not conduct criminal background checks and we do not guarantee anyone’s identity, intentions or behaviour. Use your judgement, meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and read our Safety Tips.
6. Premium, Boosts and payments
Premium and Boosts are paid features bought as one-off purchases in Kenyan shillings through M-Pesa via our payment provider, IntaSend. There is no automatic renewal in this version.
The price, duration and what is included are shown before you pay. A purchase is complete only when our server confirms payment; if you are charged but a feature does not appear, contact support and we will fix it.
Premium time is not refundable except where required by law or where we confirm a payment error. See our Refund Policy for how to request a review.
7. Safety and enforcement
Use the in-app report and block tools. Reports are reviewed and may lead to a warning, content removal, suspension or a permanent ban. We may remove content or suspend accounts to protect people, to comply with the law, or to keep the service working.
We may report suspected illegal activity to the relevant authorities where the law requires or permits it.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the rights you have under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by Kenyan law, we do not warrant that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free, that you will receive matches, or that another user’s profile is accurate.
To the extent permitted by Kenyan law, FRIENDS Kenya is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the conduct of users on or off the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights that Kenyan law does not allow us to limit.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account, or follow the instructions on our Delete Account page. We may suspend or end your access if you repeatedly or seriously break these terms.
On deletion, your profile and content are removed as described in the Privacy Policy and Delete Account page. Some anonymised payment records and safety evidence may be kept where the law requires it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes or the law requires. When a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email and, where needed, ask you to accept the new version. The version and date at the top of this page show what currently applies.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of Kenya unless the law gives you another forum.
